Deja.com and others offers such a (non-GPLed) gateway between Usenet and the WWW'. There are four alternatives to Usenet Web Gateway for Windows, Linux and Online / Web-based. The best alternative is Google Groups, which is free. Other great apps like Usenet Web Gateway are Pan (Free, Open Source), Usenet Explorer (Freemium) and Newsman Pro (Paid).
