The developer of uBlock Origin and uMatrix, Raymond Hill, has recommended that all users of uMatrix switch to uBlock Origin. uMatrix is no longer maintained and uBlock Origin in advanced mode allows for very similar functionality.

Not as powerful as uMatrix, specially if you want to block everything by default (Nightmare mode, as they call in the uBlock Origin documentation https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Blocking-mode:-nightmare-mode). You have to enable it by checking "I am an advanced user" in the configurations.

Umatrix allows you to specifically pick and choose which 3rd party sites that are providing things to the 1st party site you are visiting are blocked or not. While Noscript and Umatrix have this feature that enables you to easily change such permissions on the fly Ublock does not.

While the dynamic filtering feature is not as sophisticated as uMatrix's, it covers other areas that uMatrix doesn't and I would recommend using hard mode (https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Blocking-mode:-hard-mode) specifically to get a similar, but less granular experience of uMatrix.
