Syncthing Alternatives with feature 'Peer-To-Peer'

In an age of increasing security concerns, privacy-focused tools like Syncthing have gained notoriety among the tech crowd. The app securely synchronizes files across computers and mobile devices.

There are some great alternatives, most being open-source like Syncthing, which is important to many developers as the source code is always available to check for security holes. Others may prefer to put their trust in well-established commercial tools.

Some alternatives require a decentralized server but you can easily filter for peer-to-peer tools to find the closest matches. Most tools have desktop apps for Mac, Windows and Linux. Many also provide Android or iPhone apps as well.

ghos3t It allows one-way syncs without deletes, which means that you can use this app to backup data from one device to another (i.e. from your phone to computer) and then delete the data from your phone to free up space. Syncthing doesn't allow this and if you delete the data from the original source, it gets deleted everywhere it was synced to.

Most closely matches the scope of things needed to setup and run. Other open source options require server setup, often expanding out to additional packages such as database servers, etc.

geekypete It's still free for personal use, but is updated commercially. Comes from good people and they should be good for a while.

    2. SyncTrayzor is a wrapper for Syncthing which allows Syncthing's window to be hidden in the tray area. SyncTrayzor has a built-in web browser to manage Syncthing without opening your browser. SyncTrayzor can be configured to automatically start at PC startup.
      SyncTrayzor vs Syncthing opinions
Some users think SyncTrayzor is a great alternative to Syncthing, some don't.
JohnFastman Ordinarily, SyncThing - which is great - runs in a web browser tab. Some people don't like that. Fair enough. So they made SyncTrayzor which gives you an alternative way of accessing SynThing functionality via the taskbar. It's not an alternative, though. It's an add-on. I don't see that much of an advantage, but others might.

It's an alternative way to use the front-end of syncthing (so it's not a full alternative to syncthing -- it is an add-on), and a great one. I recommend it to ease the usability curve for most users.

Syncthing alone was not working for me to transfer files from work profile to personal profile so installed each syncthing and its fork and it worked.
