Khan academy is a really good education resource, however, despite its computer science course, it doesn't let you learn a variety of languages like SoloLearn does.

Usually to get a job in programming, you have to have strong mathematical skills. Khan Academy started because the founder was a math tutor, and now covers a high variety of subjects, including math and computer science.

With a portfolio, you have a much better chance of not only being hired, but being scouted for by recruiters. On top of that, you are helping non-profits, which by legal standards, must help the world in some type of way. You can't start a non-profit to create new diseases. You can start a non-profit to cure diseases.
