Q10 is not discontinued, there are comments to that effect in their forums. Maybe you guys should read their forums before you set an app to "discontinued". So what if it hasn't been updated since 2011? If it ain't broken, don't fix it. The app works fine the way it is.

Small and does what it needs to as a distraction-free editor, without being a hipster electron piece of trash. I haven't gotten the sound to work properly, but I don't need it to make sound, just be a fullscreen text editor. I use a monospace font and amber text color to emulate an old Brother Word Processor I used in the early nineties, takes me back to that creative place. It's discontinued but bug-free and unlikely to be a security risk. Focuswriter is the modern and feature+ successor.

I've tried a lot of distraction-free word processors, though my real criteria was minimal. Q10 is the most pure, minimal distraction free software I have encountered.

It takes up very little memory and offers complete customisation of colours allowing for users to create a dark or bright theme.

Despite being discontinued, text will always be text and I wish to use it forever.

I used to use WriteMonkey, but it wouldn't render all font formats.
Switched to Q10 for this very reason.
