Highly recommend Kahuti.com as a replacement for Streetlife and Nextdoor

about Nextdoor · · Helpful Not helpful 2 Helpful

Recently launched in UK, at the request of Ex Streetlife members and is growing with very positive member feedback. It already has a very friendly and supportive feel, interesting discussions, and numerous categories such as events, general and social, wanted and free, recommendations, lost and found, classified, security and alerts. Add to this a search facility, Private Messaging, email notifications, daily summaries and plans for so much more.

Members also have control over their own distance settings, for postings, alerts etc. so very tailored to what individuals actually want. You also have choices over how much to disclose in terms of identity and location, so no privacy issues compared to Nextdoor.com

From a personal perspective I was looking for a non Facebook alternative to Streetlife, and in less than three weeks have already found friends old and new. I am also excited about the way the site and community is developing as it grows. Major plus points are the owner and the Kahuti team's interaction and responsiveness to the numerous member suggestions and comments, as well as the support and help from other members in dealing with the inevitable "new site" questions.

Other benefits include Free Local Business listing plus members can add real reviews. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this site and the ethos behind it.

Kahuti is the most suitable and popular of the replacements for Streetlife

The developers are very responsive and are working hard to improve Kahuti in line with feedback from users. There is no requirement to enter a full name and Kahuti will accept pseudonyms and a general location, so the privacy concerns with Nextdoor do not arise and there is no pressure from the site.

There are no Community Leaders so any conversations are open and uncensored. There has been nothing controversial and everyone has been respectful in my community, so it hasn’t been a problem. Areas viewed can be customised and easily changed between 1 and 25 miles and different areas can be viewed. Users are not bombarded with e-mails every time there is a post; there is the option of a daily summary (requested by users) and that’s it. Users are not constantly badgered by the site to recruit neighbours. Free business listings are encouraged as are recommendations for reliable tradesmen.

Kahuti is being developed rapidly and has the potential to be even better than Streetlife. It has been warmly received, numbers are increasing daily and Kahuti communities are starting to spring up all over the country.

Kahuti appears to be the most suitable and popular of the replacements for Streetlife. The speed of development and response times show the founders are fully engaged with the site and they are now talking about mail shots to increase the number of users. This appears to be a serious site with the intention of remaining for the long term. I use Kahuti daily and look forward to it growing.
