For many that work primarily in a Windows, Office, and otherwise Microsoft tool-driven environment, Microsoft Teams is the natural choice for team collaboration software. For our increasingly platform agnostic world, however, Microsoft has a lot to prove, especially when going against the likes of Small Slack iconSlack.

Even in its free version, Teams features robust integration with other Microsoft services such as Small Microsoft 365 iconMicrosoft 365 and Small Microsoft OneDrive iconMicrosoft OneDrive, with integrations for third party apps and services such as Small Statuspage.io iconStatuspage.io and Small WebEngage iconWebEngage being available for anyone who uses the service.

All of this is also complemented by developer tool support for low-code solutions via the likes of Small Power BI for Office 365 iconPower BI for Office 365, as well as ready made open source production templates available for use via Small GitHub iconGitHub.

All of this is, of course, complemented by the standard voice, video, and text chat support one expects from any team collaboration service. Take as an entire package, Microsoft Teams is definitely worth researching before dedicating your business or group to a team collaboration service.

  1. general integration with Office 365;
  2. shared OneDrive documents can be edited directly in the Teams;
  3. more functionality in free Teams tier vs Slack, i.e. no need to pay extra for a 3rd party tool (Slack), when Teams is available (and is satisfactory functional) for "free" - provided, one is already paying for the Office 365 subscription;
