Microsoft Paint Alternatives with feature 'Support for Layers'

Being bundled with every version of Windows in recent memory, Paint is a basic option, but its tools are usually enough to get the job done, so long as that job is basic image and graphics editing.

There are plenty of free options available across every major operating system and device form factor that offer more feature-rich experiences, such as layer support and support for extensions and plugins.

Krita is free. It has a lot of features - somewhat similar to Photoshop. It is better than Paint because it has lots of different brushes and allows some brush customization. You can work with layers, which is a feature that MS Paint lacks. The app is worth a try. There's nothing to lose.

Paint is a far smaller and more limited program than Krita. While Krita can probably do everything Paint can, it can do so much more that to use it as an alternative would be absurdly unwieldy.

Photopea is an outstanding Chrome OS substitute for Photoshop (or GIMP), but it is much more complicated to use than MS Paint.

While a lot more complicated than Paint, it has everything you need to create a Paint image; line tools, shape tools, airbrush, pixel brush, bucket tool (that can fill without white spaces by expanding!) Not to mention more advanced tools and layer options, for more complicated drawings and even professional artists’ needs.
