MacUpdater Reviews

This app is GREAT and it does the same thing for a very, very low one time purchase price. What is not to love here?

I used AppFresh until it went kaput. Then started using MacUpdate Desktop and was paying the annual fee, then they upped it to only a 6 month cover for a price that used to before 12 months. It's just crazy. MacUpdate Desktop was also slowing down my computer and using large resources once I stopped paying the pro fee. Pretty sure they are trying to force you to pay the subscription. I am very happy that I got this to replace that junk. Now if only I can get MacUpdate Desktop off my computer. Won't let me delete it, says it's running, even though I turned off start on start up, quit the app and the menu app. It's making me mad. I had read they had started putting adware in their downloads if you use the free version. That is sneaky and just wrong.

MacUpdater by CoreCode is the software to go for. Lots of potential. Like it a lot so far. Forget MacUpdate Desktop.

Great, ditto what other reviewers have said. For those of us who still prefer to stay off the Apple App Store as much as possible, this makes keeping track of updates convenient. It's being sold at a flat-fee at a reasonable price ($10), with a communicative developer committed to implementing suggestions. 4 stars just since it's still a work in progress, but I have no doubt it will be 5-star-worthy soon!

I like MacUpdater because I have to pay ONCE for a great app that helps me update my Mac.
I've used it for a couple of weeks and then I've bought it.
It's continuously updated and it's very fast.

Covers a wide range of apps and (usefully) also tells you which ones you can update, but manually.

I was searching for an alternative to the MacUpdate desktop subscription-crap-ware.
I found this as alternative - good job alternativeto!
quite new and quite useful, easy to use, intuitive user interface … does what it does, not more not less.
10€ is a reasonable price in contrast to 40€ yearly. Fast and friendly support included.
The funny thing is that you cannot find this app on MacUpdate - guess why …

Well, the answer to your question is simple: they can't have on their website a better app that costs a fraction and does a better job.

Great application, does the exact same job than MacUpdater, for a fraction of the price (a one-time $9.99 fee vs. $20/6-months subscription for MacUpdater) to do exactly what I want, keeping my software updated.
The app works on the background and does an amazing job finding updates. You just have to review it from time to time and click on a button to update what you want. It also keep tabs on the Mac App Store software.
The developper is extremely reactive (AND pro-active) when contacted (he added the automatic updating of an obscure app I'm using without even me asking for it).
I don't know what to add, as I'm 110% happy with this app!
Oh, I'm also using another app from them, SMARTreporter that I have been using for years only with good things to say about it...

I think Mac Update won't allow it because the name of this app is almost identical to their name! Call this app something else and get it listed on there.

Anyway, I've been looking for an alternative to AppFresh for some time now. This could be it. More work needed to make a better user experience: update multiple apps, leave decisions until afterwards don't nag me with alert boxes. Indeed, look at AppFresh to see how the actual updating should be done.
