    • KeePass is better than LastPass because: 1) it's open source, 2) it stores your passwords (and notes and other info) in a local database, rather than in the cloud. So it's up to you if you want to sync it using the service of your choice. Together with the KeeFox plugin for Firefox, KeePass is a superb LastPass replacement. Works great on Win and Linux; for Mac try MacPass, which is compatible with KeePass. JohnFastmanDec 2016 • 11 agrees and 5 disagrees Disagree   Agree
    • Open source is the only way to rest assured there is no backdoor. KeePass works great on any platform. sondrakJun 2017 • 6 agrees and 2 disagrees Disagree   Agree
    • KeePass and LastPass, while both provide secure password storage, differ GREATLY in their usage and utility. KeePass is great for OFFLINE backups of data/ LastPass is great for ONLINE backups, notes, sharing, and autofill on multiple platforms. Guest • Jan 2018 • 1 agrees and 1 disagrees Disagree   Agree

    • Bitwarden is a superb Lastpass alternative. It's open source (more trustworthy), supports 2FA (phone, Yubikey...), has good browser integration, is easy to use, cheaper than Lastpass and, unlike Lastpass, it encrypts the address field of the accounts you store. Lastpass or Bitwarden? Bitwarden 100%. JohnFastmanApr 2018 • 1 agrees and 0 disagrees Disagree   Agree

    • An excellent password manager: compatible with Keepass, open source and lets you choose how to sync your data. But doesn't support browser plugins. So try KeePassXC, which does support browser plugins (PassIFox and ChromeIPass). KeepassXC is therefore a LastPass killer. JohnFastmanMar 2017 • 4 agrees and 1 disagrees Disagree   Agree

It's also based on a broadly supported format, is compatible with 2FA (e.g. a keyfile) and has good browser plugin integration. Lastpass doesn't encrypt your URLs and is based in the US. • Enpass is better than Lastpass because they don't store your data in the cloud (choice is yours how to sync/store it). But they use a proprietary format, they're not open sourced and they don't allow using keyfiles for added security. Using KeepassXC + PassIFox or PassIChrome gives you all of this, and is a better, free, open source choice. JohnFastmanMar 2017 • 3 agrees and 5 disagrees Disagree   Agree

    • Genius invention. Doesn't store your passwords anywhere; it generates them everytime you put in the same Master password and username/website domain. Therefore, your password database can't be hacked - it doesn't exist. However, it's harder to change passwords for accounts because you have to use the iteration feature. Test it to see if it suits your needs. Thumbs up for open source also. Otherwise, ditch LastPass and go for KeePass. JohnFastmanDec 2016 • 2 agrees and 2 disagrees Disagree   Agree

    • MacPass is an alternative for LastPass for Mac users who want to store their password database locally, rather than give it to some corporation. You can sync your database and it's compatible with KeePass, which is popular for Windows and Linux. No browser plugin I know of. MacPass is in beta still, but it's always worked flawlessly for me. • It is genuinely foolish to rely on closed source apps to store your most private data if open source alternatives exist. Keeper is closed source. Bitwarden and KeePassXC are open source alternatives to Lastpass. They both also have more features, are free or very cheap and fully encrypt your database, which Lastpass does not.
