LessPass is an open source password manager. Instead of syncing a database of passwords, it generates them locally every time you put in a domain name, login and master password. There is no central database for hackers to break into.

      LessPass vs LastPass opinions
Most users think LessPass is a great alternative to LastPass.
JohnFastman LessPass is an alternative to LastPass but is more similar to Master Password in its approach. It doesn't save or "remember" your passwords in any way. It's a browser plugin that you enter a domain, login and master password into. It then uses an algorithm to generate a long password you can use for a website of your choice. Every time you enter the same details, you get the same password. Read their website for an honest lowdown on the pros and cons of this approach. It might be right for you!

ChuckDee68 One of the things that lastpass does is manage your passwords. This just generates passwords by making a hash of a provided phrase and the site. It's also not as secure as it purports to be.

JohnFastman Keefox is a Firefox add-on/extension which allows you to automatically fill in website login and password information from an open KeePass database. Together with KeePass, it makes an excellent replacement for proprietary apps like LastPass and Dashlane. It's free and open source, of course. Works great in Windows and Linux. Highly recommended!

JohnFastman MacPass is an alternative for LastPass for Mac users who want to store their password database locally, rather than give it to some corporation. You can sync your database and it's compatible with KeePass, which is popular for Windows and Linux. No browser plugin I know of. MacPass is in beta still, but it's always worked flawlessly for me.

JohnFastman Pass stores your passwords locally and is open source. It's command-line based and you have to know a little bit about GPG. But there is an interface called QtPass which works well, and you can even get browser integration. Otherwise, try KeepassXC with either PassIFox or ChromeIPass for the browser integration.
