While you may still need Irfanview to view some more obscure image formats. JPEGView is the best most lightweight viewer for common formats.

Fast and Simple

It's fast, much faster than windows default image viewer when opening or scrolling through images quickly. It's simple, but not featureless with a minimal UI that gets out of your way when you don't need it. Many of it's features can be reached from the context menu or keyboard shortcut. It's also pretty configurable if you want to dig around in the configuration file to change shortcuts, behavior, or UI.

At it's core it's an image viewer, and that's exactly what it does without any bloat or obstructive UI. If you need it to do something that isn't related to image viewing then I suggest looking at other alternatives.

After looking around a while, I found JPEGView to be the best lightweight picture viewer out there. I was really tired of the ugliness and bulkiness of viewers like Irfanview.

As in the title, this viewer is small and fast, and have a really minimalist interface so you can enjoy your pictures in full screen, while keeping a lot of options. The color/contrast corrections functions are advanced, the rotation tool is very neat, the visualisation is way faster than the Windows 10 pictures viewer, and you also get an automated picture correction tool that function actually really well. I have try many viewer as I make a lot of pictures, and I have to say i believe I have finally find "THE" one.
