about Greenshot · · Helpful Not helpful 2 Helpful Report as spam

greenshot is by far my favorite screen shot software that i have ever used, with the past 2 software i was searching for some features which is unnecessary but will make my life a lot more easier and do things a lot more simple and fast, with GreenShot i find it all, the essential, the additions , the extra addition, itis simply super fantastic, yet super simple, in tiny little package.

Greenshot Image Editor Doesn't work with 4k Monitor scaling

about Greenshot · · Helpful Not helpful 1 Helpful Report as spam

I have a 4k 15.6" Zenbook running windows 10 scaled at 200%. Scaling doesn't work with the image editor. Other than that this plugin is fantastic!

Does the trick

about Greenshot and scrot · · Helpful Not helpful 1 Helpful Report as spam

Coming from Linux, I missed scrot -s a lot. Now I can deal with image cropping easily.
Plus, Greenshot is Open Source, which is great if you asked me.

This is 2015 and I'm still using it

about Greenshot · · Helpful Not helpful 1 Helpful Report as spam

It's the best screen shot software I've ever used and ready to be used any time I want. Easily configurable with plenty of settings. I can sincerely recommend it. It would be great if it could record short videos.

Nice app

about Greenshot · · Helpful Not helpful 1 Helpful Report as spam

I'm the guy who initially translated it to French. This app evolved a lot since then. The only thing I would like to see is a full Window scroll capture for every app, not only IE. Of course if it would have video as suggested in some comments it would be fine but maybe they should do a separate app for that.

Do not agree with the person saying that size doesn't matter and I especially disagree on the argument that person/groups that emphasis on their app size would not code well. I think it's the opposite. Being able to make an app that reaches to eat the least possible capacity demands a great knowledge in development. So size somehow matter even if it doesn't matter as much as functionality.

Really cool capture tool

about Greenshot and Snagit · · Helpful Not helpful 1 Helpful Report as spam

Awesome alternative for SnagIt. And it's open-source, too. Beautiful!
Love it.

I am using the lastest Build of Greenshot, v1.0.3 RC3 by now.

Why pay for SnagIt?

about Greenshot and CamStudio · · Helpful Not helpful 1 Helpful Report as spam

Greenshot does everything I need, except for video capture, and I can use the free CamStudio for that.

use shareX which runs greenshot + many more baked in features for image host support

about Greenshot · · Helpful Not helpful Report as spam

Small ShareX iconShareX

see this app

it runs greenshot for image editing but has slew of numerous features layered on top of it, including gif support, uploading host support, scroll captures, OCR recognition, etc

shareX is like greenshot 2.0

Greenshot standalone is starting to incorporate a lot of shareX features, I use both a standalone greenshot and sharex+portable-green-shot editor right now, depending on what I'm doing. I customize shareX extensively, greenshot I use all default values out of the box since the defaults are great

ShareX vs Greenshot comparison

Greenshot Pros

  • Dynamically saving location is miles ahead better than shareX
  • Better editor obviously, since shareX image editor based on greenshot

Greenshot Cons

  • Cannot set an automatic save file if using dynamic save location
  • Doesn't support image hosting logins
  • Doesn't support gifs

about Greenshot and Hyperdesktop · · Helpful Not helpful Report as spam

I was using Hyperdesktop before this program.

When I noticed some issues with Hyperdesktop I turned to this website to help me out...

It did not disappoint. :)

This program is great and is just as easy to upload images quickly and with A LOT more functionality.

I'm not going to be using Hyperdesktop again I guess. :)

HOWEVER one thing I think it could use is FTP uploading.

It's ok

about Greenshot and DuckLink Screen Capture · · Helpful Not helpful Report as spam

DuckCapture stops responding to PrtScn all the time, so I'm looking for alternatives. This seems pretty good, but it's missing the interactive mode for Capture Window, where you can mouse around and it highlights different parts of different windows that you can capture from.

Greenshot has an interactive mode, try PrintScreen and than Space...
It's hidden in the help, but who reads this anyway? ;-)

Good, that's pretty similar. Not identical, though. DuckCapture highlights panes within a window, too.

New UNIQUE GreenShot-functions 2012

about Greenshot and Imgur, JIRA · · Helpful Not helpful Report as spam

GreenShot has realized 3 unique and new functions with plugins:

  • OCR function to send text from ScreenShot toClipBoard:

until 2012 JOCR was the only portable ScreenShot-tool with OCR (Optical Character Recognition)

  • Now you can upload the ScreenShots to Imgur (free without password):

You simply can publish your Screenshot with an URL like .
Imgur is a free and simple image hosting service with image editing feature. Signup is optional. Imgur is pronounced like image-er; imager. The maximum non-animated file size you can upload is 10MB. However, if the image is over 1MB then it will automatically be compressed or resized to 1MB, for better viewing on the net. The maximum animated file size (both GIF and PNG) is 2MB.
Images may be removed if they get no views in 6 months.
File types allowed: JPEG, GIF, PNG, APNG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, XCF (GIMP). The TIFF, BMP, PDF and XCF formats will be converted to PNG on upload.

  • Now you can upload the ScreenShots to JIRA (not free and only with password)

This review concerns with OCR-Plugin.

Unfortunatelly Greenshot OCR doesnot work with MS-Office 2010 + Windows 7 64 bit, but it does work with MS-Office 2007 + Vista business 64 bit

On you can read:

What's new in Portable Greenshot 0.8.1 Build 1138 Beta (June 1st, 2011):
Added OCR Plugin, this will only work when Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 is installed.

Microsoft removed MODI, Microsoft Office Document Imaging, from Office 2010. This is what GreenShot OCR function needs, without it there is no OCR-function.
You can have a try with this to get the MODI-function from SharePoint Designer 2007 (free). But it is not prooved if this works!

This is not a review.

I updated the ticket, it works when you install MODI from SharePoint Designer 2007 and our now officially released 1.0!
