Free, well-featured, regularly updated, and some potentially useful 3rd-party addons.

Its powerful, lots of great feature. It is also hard to understand and could use more documentation. I think its worth the learning pain.

Genealogy for Linux, really powerfull but not so easy to use when you need to tag records and export them (for example, if I need to export all my chidren ancestors, adding only the branches that lead to our close cousins - and not the many branches that come from all the ancestors); for that, you need to create several filters).
The Windows version works well but the soft needs to install a lot of files, and is slow at lauching. Just tried: a little more than 30 seconds on my PC with Pentium j2900, 4 cores 8 GB memory.
