Comments about Gitea as a Alternative to GitLab
It needs way less recources2
just look at the resources it less uses!2
Really lightweight, 100MB(Gitea) download vs 1.5GB(GitLab) makes things clear as day. It's also written in Go while GitLab is mostly on Ruby, I think no need to explain performance differences. Of course it comes with a price: Gitea is not as feature rich as GitLab, but sometimes you do not need them anyway. Good alternative when you just need to manage your code in sane way.0
Fast, nice and easy to configure4
Programmed in Go , so need min. requirements7
The easiest, fastest, and most painless way of setting up a self-hosted Git service. With Go, this can be done with an independent binary distribution across ALL platforms that Go supports, including Linux, Mac OS X, Windows and ARM.
