Trouble with ASUS Splendid Technology

I have it on a Asus laptop with the ASUS Splendid Technology. When I't runs the screen blinks, and I'm only able to stop it if I run the Eye Care Switcher that is part of the Asus Splendid tools.

This app is great... I've had problems with insomnia for as long as I can remember. Within 30 minutes of downloading and installing this app last night (@4 in the morning), I fell asleep with my laptop on the couch. There's definitely something to this "blue" spectrum thing.

reply

I installed it a few days ago and I slept very well too :-)

Makes viewing my computer screen very easy on my eyes in low-light settings.

It was the first screen 'dimmer' I heard about and it was very helpful when using the PC late at night. I like its settings. Ability to change intensity. Also, by providing your timezone, f.lux could automatically switch on and off. It's a good program. Being free is even better!

it helps you look at the screen at night without your eyes turning into something you would only see in a horror movie.

Why not?

reply

It's going to be a sold product in the future, with patent and all.

Yeah I agree. I mean it works well enough right now, But the Windows version is completely different from the Mac.

I see. Might try this on my desktop then (when I use it). Thanks for the clarification.

How is this different from an ambient light sensor in a laptop (which also consumes less resources) ?

Well I must say that the app developer is awesome! I sent a twitter message to him regarding the problems with the new macbook pro and within two hours I received a reply with a link to a beta build that fixed the issue. He even sent me another build immediately after where he fixed another issue he found. So all is well again, however the version with the fix is not yet publicly available. If you happen to have this same problem, check out @herf's feed (the developer) on twitter and you will find the link to the beta build.

And.... now it won't work on the new Macbook pro :/ every time the display switches between the integrated and dedicated graphics card, the screen gets redder which basically is a complete no go.
