drive-cli Reviews

Best open-source Google Drive client for Linux

about drive-cli and Insync · · Helpful Not helpful Report as spam

After substantial research, I decided that there are two worthy Google Drive clients for Linux: Small Insync iconInsync and drive-cli (known as just "drive" outside of AlternativeTo). Insync is paid but functions like the Windows and Mac versions of Google Drive. drive-cli works more like a Git repository. It's grown on me to the point where I prefer it to the background sync programs for Windows and Mac. I love being able to make changes to a file and then decide if I want to push the changes to Google Drive or, if I screwed up, pull my backup copy from the Google Drive server.

This tool was surprisingly easy to use, especially if you install from your distro's packages.
