$1`7.99 for a "free" app? I don't think so.
How can they get away with claiming it's "free" software?

reply

Right? Why is it free for windows but not Mac?

Very good. It can handle all types of files

Simple, free, it works very well and can handle all types of files. Translated into many languages. Strongly recommended.

It's $17.99! Why is this tagged under "free," this is so stupid. But of course, it is free for people who use Windows, because f*** the Mac users am I right?

Very lightweight, fast and feature rich! I've tried peazip for a while, and only when I have returned to bandizip I have realized what a difference is between these two. Another PLUS for Bandizip is the automatic update.

Bandizip has a nice, modern UI which is already a good point for some. What's more, it's extremely lightweight… but where it really shines is in its functionalities.

There are a lot of options, including the interesting Smart Extract: if there is a root folder inside the archive, it will extract directly. If there isn't, it will create a new folder. All kind of extractions have an extract and delete archive version too.

Also, Bandizip proposes an "archive preview" directly in the context menu.

All these can be added to the context menu directly, or to a submenu.

As for a more niche use, if you're often extracting archives using Asian (tried with Chinese and Japanese) symbols, Bandizip will usually extract them correctly without causing mojibake and without the need to change your system locale.

All in all, a solid app both in design and function – and free for Windows on top of that.

Cool app, better than PeaZip or any other commercial archiver - fast, simple, modern look and preview feature is what I need from this kind software.

It has a much nicer interface than 7-Zip and it's SUPER fast! It also doesn't seem to have a problem zipping files that are open, whereas 7-Zip would skip those files.

I also used WinZip in the past at work and I used to have to wait a really long time when zipping the contents of my thumb drive over to a network location. I didn't run any official numbers since I already removed WinZip due to Windows 10 issues, but I swear Bandizip is at least twice as fast.

AWESOME - thanks guys for pointing me here from PeaZip etc.
This is good. Fast, organised, simple, clean. Free.

  • ALTHOUGH I woulds change the horrible Logo here on Alternativeto.net to the newer Vector one, which is refreshingly nice as Archive Icon.

I got a bad impression from the logo.... false alarm.

Literallly Bombed WinRAR and 7-Zip

about Bandizip · · Helpful Not helpful Report as spam

For awhile, I've been using WinRAR and 7-Zip for my compressing/decompressing needs. In fact, a little bit for ZIP encryption. Then, my friend insisted that I tried this app. I thought it was going to be like Windows Explorer's ZIPer: horribly made and with little to no support. I was suprised from the extensive compatibility of the app and never thought it would actually replase WinRAR, 7-Zip, and WinZip.

Bandizip was literally an angel for my compressing, decompressing, and file encryption needs!

Unlike 7-zip and PeaZip, BandiZip can create ISO files.
