Android Secure Solutions

This list's main purpose is to remind me of good, secure and private apps to replace the Android stock ones — mainly Google's —, specially to setup the smartphone again, when I get rid of Android and install LineageOS, for security and privacy purposes. This list also has some nice applications and concepts I've found out there.

  • orWall

Free Android Android Tablet Tor Orbot Website

orWall will force selected applications through Small Orbot iconOrbot while preventing unchecked applications to have network access. In short, orWall will add special iptables rules in order to redirect traffic for applications through Small Tor iconTor it will also add required rules in order to block traffic for other apps.
The redirection is based on the application user id. Each android application runs as a dedicated user, and iptables has support for traffic filtering based on the process owner, meaning it's really easy and pretty safe to do this kind of thing on an Android device.

  • Aurora Store

Free Android Android Tablet F-Droid Website

Author's comment: The best current alternative to PlayStore. Doesn't requires an account (instead, creates a fake one for internal use), can spoof informations (device, language and location), doesn't requires Google Play services (so you don't need MicroG too), points app's embedded trackers, has all the funcionalities that the stock app store... The only downside is, if you font have root access (which I currently don't), you need to mannualy install each app and update. But seriously, I don't even miss PlayStore.
