"UBCD4Win is a bootable recovery CD that contains software used for repairing, restoring, or diagnosing almost any computer problem. Our goal is to be the most complete and easy to use free computer diagnostic tool. Almost all software included in UBCD4Win are freeware utilities for Windows®. Some of the tools inlcuded are "free for personal use" copies so users need to respect these licenses. A few of the tools included in UBCD4Win are paid for and licensed software owned by UBCD4win. On occasion we work with software companies/authors for permission to include their software in our download or have requested their software better support PE. Users can freely share copies of UBCD4Win with friends but selling UBCD4Win for a profit is not acceptable. We have worked hard for many years helping people for free with this project, others should not make money from our hard work. UBCD4Win is based on Barts PE©. Barts PE© builds a Windows® "pre-install" environment CD, basically a simple Windows® XP booted from CD. UBCD4Win includes network support and allows you the ability to modify NTFS volumes, recover deleted files, create new NTFS volumes, scan hard drives for viruses, etc. Our download includes almost everything you need to repair your system problems. This project has been put together to be the ultimate recovery cd and not a replacement OS (Operating System)" By ubcd4win.com
rEFInd is a fork of the rEFIt boot manager for computers based on the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) and Unified EFI (UEFI). Like rEFIt, rEFInd is a boot manager, meaning that it presents a menu of options to the user when the computer first starts up, as shown below. rEFInd is not a boot loader, which is a program that loads an OS kernel and hands off control to it.
I decided to fork the earlier rEFIt project because, although rEFIt is a useful program, it's got several important limitations, such as poor control over the boot loader detection process and an ability to display at most a handful of boot loader entries on its main screen. rEFIt's author, Christoph Pfisterer, didn't respond to my e-mails, and the latest official version of rEFIt, 0.14, was released in March of 2010. Thus, it appears that rEFIt has been abandoned. Forking the project to give rEFIt new features seemed like the thing to do.
Bootice - utility to modify or backup/restore your MBR (Master Boot Record) or PBR (Partition Boot Record).
With Bootice, you can easily change your MBR/PBR to another type. Supported boot records are: Grub4DOS, SysLinux, PLoP Boot Manager, MS NT52/60, .... For example, with this utility, you can install Grub4DOS to your MBR or PBR, install NTLDR or BOOTMGR to your PBR, install SYSLINUX to PBR, install the MS-DOS boot record to your PBR, and so on.
It also has the ability to re-partition and format your flash disk drive. You can even seperate your flash disk to 2 partitions (only 1 is accessible in Windows, the other one is hidden for private data or boot images). And another useful function is to backup or restore your MBR/PBR of your disk.
Note: Hiren's Boot CD contains the program.
