dict.cc is not only an online dictionary translating from English and German to 21 languages. Its an attempt to create a platform where users from all over the world can share their knowledge in the field of translations. Every visitor can suggest new translations and correct or confirm other users suggestions. The challenging and most important part of the project is the so-called Contribute! system making this process possible.
The resulting vocabulary database can be downloaded anytime.
The complete German-English vocabulary of dict.cc is now available for download and offline use on the iPhone. Just search the AppStore for "dict.cc" to install the free application!
Shelter is a Free and Open-Source (FOSS) app that leverages the “Work Profile” feature of Android to provide an isolated space that you can install or clone apps into.
Shelter comes with absolutely no advertisement / statistics / tracking SDKs bundled with it. All source code is available in at https://git.angry.im/PeterCxy/Shelter or mirror https://github.com/PeterCxy/Shelter and the sources are licensed under WTFPL.
This app depends on your Android system’s implementation of Work Profile. Some vendor / custom ROMs may have a broken implementation that may cause crashes and even bricking of your device. One such example is MIUI from Xiaomi. I currently provide no support for such ROMs because I personally do not own any of these devices. If you are running Shelter on these ROMs, you are on your own. If any developer out there own these devices and could make Shelter run on these ROMs, please send pull requests and I’ll be happy to merge them.
Features / Use Cases
- Run apps inside the isolated profile so they cannot access your data outside the profile
- “Freeze” (disable) background-heavy or seldom-used apps when you don’t need them. This is especially true if you use apps from "some company".
- Clone apps to use two accounts on one device
Caveats
Shelter is not a full sandbox implementation. It cannot protect you from:
- Security bugs of the Android system or Linux kernel
- Backdoors installed in your Android system (so please use an open-source ROM if you are concerned about this)
- Backdoors installed into the firmwares (no way to work around this)
- Any other bugs or limitations imposed by the Android system.
Also, Shelter cannot create more than 1 work profile on one Android device, and cannot co-exist with any other apps that manages a Work Profile. This is due to the limitations of the Android system, and I can do nothing about this.

An Android app which finds wrong, incomplete or extendable data in the user's vicinity and provides the tools to complete these easily and directly on site without having to use another editor.
The found issues are presented to the user as markers on a map (like i.e. in Mapdust) that each are solvable by filling out a simple form to complete/correct the information on site. The user's answer is then processed and directly uploaded into the OSM database in atomic commits in the name of the user's OSM account. Since the app is meant to be used on a survey, it can be used offline and otherwise aims to be economic with data usage.
The app is aimed at users who do not know anything about OSM tagging schemes but still want to contribute to the OpenStreetMap by surveying their neighbourhood (or other places as well). Because of the target group, only those quests are shown which are answerable very clearly by asking one simple question and only those quests are created which contain very few false positives.
Features: Trip planner (door to door), live departure times (including delays), nearby stations (also on a map) and interactive network plans. Also: app-widget for departures from nearby stations. Coverage: Germany (long-distance, regional and local, e.g. Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart) Switzerland (long-distance, regional and local, e.g. Zürich, Geneva, Basel, Bern) Austria (long-distance, regional and local, e.g. Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck) Italy (long-distance, regional and local, e.g. Milan, Rome, Naples) Belgium (long-distance, regional and local, e.g. Antwerp, Ghent, Charleroi, Brussels) Luxembourg (long-distance, regional and local) Denmark (long-distance, regional and local, e.g. Copenhagen) Sweden (long-distance, regional and local, e.g. Stockholm) Norway (long-distance, regional and local, e.g. Oslo, Bergen) Poland (long-distance, regional and local, e.g. Warsaw) UK (long-distance, regional and local, e.g. London, Birmingham) Ireland (long-distance, regional and local, e.g. Dublin) USA (local and regional, e.g. Philadelphia, Chicago)

PanicTrigger is an Android app which can help you in an emergency situation. In such a case you tap on a big red button which causes the app to send out SMS to your preconfigured contacts/groups without comfirmation. So don’t tap on the wrong button ;-) PanicTrigger runs in the background and listens for incoming SMS this is why it needs the permission to read your SMS. I won’t read your SMS :)
If an ingoing SMS contains a specific word AND is from a specific number then an alarm will go off and call the sender of the SMS in one minute. Enough time for you to wake up and realize that the alarm has been triggered. Your contact(s) can trigger your alarm with a simple SMS and vice versa. If he/she/they doesn’t have this app he will only see an SMS with the text “Panic” (by default) and your current GPS coordinates. This makes this app useful regardless of if your contact has this app installed or not.
