Vim ("Vi IMproved") is an advanced text editor that allows syntax highlighting, word completion and has a huge amount of contributed content.
Vim offers several “modes” for editing with efficiency. This makes vim a non-user-friendly application but it is also a strength. The normal mode binds alphanumeric keys to task-oriented commands. The visual mode highlights text. The command-line mode offers more tools (for search&replace, defining functions, etc.)

Development of the original MPC-HC project has ended. The few other developers that were involved have all lost interest.
But don't worry, MPC-HC is still very much alive!
My repository is a continuation of the original MPC-HC project.
I have been involved in MPC development for almost 15 years, even before MPC-HC existed, so consider my builds as the new 'official' releases.
Development state
MPC-HC does not have many active developers right now. So don't expect much new functionality or other big changes. The player already is mature and provides all functionality that most people need. MPC-HC is open source, so anyone who is interested can contribute fixes and improvements. You can submit patches to me, and when I think your change is useful, I will gladly include it in a future build.

FFmpeg is the leading multimedia framework, able to decode, encode, transcode, mux, demux, stream, filter and play pretty much anything that humans and machines have created. GNU Midnight Commander is a visual file manager, licensed under GNU General Public License and therefore qualifies as Free Software. Technical details - How does it work?
Searx is a metasearch engine, inspired by the seeks project. It provides basic privacy by mixing your queries with searches on other platforms without storing search data. Queries are made using a POST request on every browser (except chrome*). Therefore they show up in neither our logs, nor your URL history. In case of Chrome* users there is an exception, Searx uses the search bar to perform GET requests. Searx can be added to your browser's search bar; moreover, it can be set as the default search engine.

Clonezilla is a free software disaster recovery, disk cloning and deployment solution.
You're probably familiar with the popular proprietary commercial package Norton Ghost®. The problem with these kind of software packages is that it takes a lot of time to massively clone systems to many computers. Clonezilla, based on DRBL, Partclone and udpcast, allows you to do bare metal backup and recovery. There are two types of Clonezilla available: Clonezilla live and Clonezilla SE (server edition).
Clonezilla live is suitable for single machine backup and restore.
Clonezilla SE is for massive deployment, it can clone many (40 plus!) computers simultaneously.
Clonezilla saves and restores only used blocks in the harddisk. This increases the clone efficiency.
GParted is a GTK+ frontend to GNU Parted and the official GNOME Partition Editor application. It is used for creating, deleting, resizing, moving, checking and copying partitions, and the file systems on them. This is useful for creating space for new operating systems, reorganizing disk usage, copying data residing on hard disks and mirroring one partition with another (disk imaging).

GIMPshop shares all of GIMP's advantages, including the long feature list and customisability, while addressing some common criticisms regarding the programs interface. It modifies the menu structure to closely match Photoshop's, adjusts the programs terminology to match Adobe's, and in the Windows version, uses a plugin called Deweirdifier to combine GIMP's numerous windows in a similar manner to the MDI system used by most Windows graphics packages.
While GIMPshop does not support Photoshop plugins, all of GIMP's own plugins, filters, brushes, etc. remain available.
Due to the changes to the interface, many Photoshop tutorials can be followed in GIMPshop unchanged, and most others can be adapted for GIMPshop users with minimal effort.
