Open Library is an online project intended to create “one web page for every book ever published”. Book database and digital lending libraryIts book information is collected from the Library of Congress, other libraries, and Amazon.com, as well as from user contributions through a Wiki-like interface. Open Library claims to have 6 million authors and 20 million books (not works), and about one million Public Domain books are available as digitized books.
Google Play Books lets you search, preview, and buy millions of books using Google Book Search. Books in the public domain and certain copyrighted books can be read and downloaded in their entirety for free. You can buy ebooks for reading on your computer, Apple device, Android device, Nook, or Sony eReader in the Google ebookstore. All purchased eBooks are backed up online, and your page positions are automatically synced between devices.

Wikipedia is a free, multilingual encyclopedia project supported by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation. Wikipedia has 17 million articles (3.5 million in English), which have been written collaboratively by volunteers around the world. Almost all of its articles can be edited by anyone with access the Wikipedia website.
