What is xPud?
xPUD is an unique Linux distribution, consisting mainly of a web browser and a media player, with a simple user interface on top. It can turn your computer into a kiosk-like station making surfing and watching movies as easy as pie.
It's fast, on average booting within 10 seconds, and its small, too. Core image is weighing in at under 70MB, yet it still remains binary compatible with most major Linux distributions like Ubuntu or Fedora.
- lightweight and fast booting
- applications for daily use
- easy-to-use user interface
What's more, it can exist on any windows, linux or mac partition without disturbing them, and it can be installed very easily.

Comments and Reviews
Although the website and forums are up, xPud hasn't been updated since 2009. The forums are also dead (some activity in 2011, a single post in 2012). I remember running xPud during my netbook days (I settled on Puppy) but I thought it showed promise. I envisioned a kiosk-type system for the non-tech savvy - helpful UI for these kinds of users too.
Given the security issues with any OS that isn't being actively work on (much less one that saw it's last update 7 years ago), it's probably not a good idea to run it online.
