It worked with files that Avidemux (and some other apps I tried) refused to work with or made soundless result.

In English - I needed to convert an video file in .mp4 to AVI or other file format to edit it in Sony Vegas. This so far is the best program in windows to do such thing.
It's free, doesn't come with any other bundle (as "bundleware"), antivirus friendly (at least for me using Qihoo 360) an simple to use.
Totally recommended, awesome alternative to programs such as freemake video convert and others.

I have converted so many formats with both video and audio, and all I can say is that this program has never failed me once. I'm actually surprised that it isn't as popular as Handbrake. I actually used handbrake before this, it was useful, but it still left me wanting more.

I'll continue by saying that I keep this program in my toolbox (flash drive), as it is highly useful and it's portability is a sweet touch.

This program supports output into almost any format and container. I have converted FLAC into WAV and MP3 for CD burning (and vice versa), as well as converting HD videos for my sister's fourth generation iPod Touch.

I have added and removed audio tracks from videos, as well as subtitles (This especially comes in handy for Anime rips when I'm trying to save space).

I have downloaded 1080p videos from Youtube, and separated the Audio and Video into two separate files.

The uses are countless...

The only gripe that I have about this program is that the User Interface is definitely for more experienced users, if, you are doing any more than just simple conversions. I say this because, for each file you want, you have to select it, set the settings you want, and then hit add job (You can select more than one file at once to add to the queue).

Love this small portable program has internal codecs so nothing needs to be installed can separate video and audio from each other, and has basic trim functions (without re-encoding providing the codec is supported) . Would be nice if you attach an additional audio to a video though.

Interface is kind of unintuitive, it hangs all the time, but it's good for resizing with aspect ratio and other minor tasks.

nice, free program. it works and works well. however, i tried to convert a WMV video file to Ogg Theora, and the whole bloody thing froze! i'd submit that as a bug, but i don't speak German.

Xinok pretty much sumed it up. It's Free, it supports all of the most common formats, and lets it's users customize the output file(s). I love it becuase it does most of what MediaCoder does, without the constant crashes (such as padding the video, and cutting the video (only convert certain parts)). I love it! The only thing its missing (in my opinion) is a dedicated forum. But, you could always use the forums on sites like Doom9. I give it a solid 5 out of 5!!!

XMedia Recode is my favorite video encoder, and I would recommend it over MediaCoder or SUPER. It's powerful, supporting a large number of container formats, codecs, and other settings far beyond just the bitrate. It has some filters, including resizing and cropping. Lastly, it just works, I've never had any problems converting videos with this program.
