Can a VPN Offer 100% Anonymity?

Comment by Anonymity
about VPN4All and HideMyAss! Oct 2012

I really question how secure the VPN is. Even if your VPN provider won't log you, your DNS, or ISP provider can still track you.

All VPN providers know this and, while their terms and conditions always state that their services are not to be used for illegal activities, they derive a portion of their revenue from users who signed up for just that purpose, something all VPN providers are aware of.

If a provider does not log your IP address and does not log your activity while using their system, how would they be able to investigate anything? Even if they tell you that they won't keep logs, can you really trust them?

This is crazy. Look at all the "good reviews" that were posted by accounts with only 1 post in Nov of 2010. They are all fake reviews by the company. If your gonna submit fake reviews why are you making it so obvious? I was gonna signup for your service but after seeing all the fake reviews you submitted I'm most certainly not. Seeing fake good reviews makes me want to post fake bad reviews but I'm not an evil person so I won't since I didn't use your service.

about VPN4All Jun 2011

I've been with VPN4ALL for the past two months; They are overpriced and too expensive, the first month i was paying $9.99 + $24.99 (Unlimited Addon) which totaled $34.90/month.

I initially had 7/800 connection and was getting relatively good speeds from their Toronto & Chicago Server. The following month i upgraded to 50/2 and their Chicago servers speeds couldn't reach past 15/2 and the Toronto Server was pretty much down for the entire month, the last few days after 3 Support Tickets was back online and i was only able to get 8/2.

They lowered their prices the following month because their competition was offering the same service for $15/month. They now offer $16/month for unlimited. Do not buy the anti-virus, phishing add-ons you absolutely do not need those shills.

Overall speeds are godly slow, they also have a corrupt SSL Certification system; such that sites that i frequent have now been blocked by VPN4ALL redirecting to * and return 404 Errors.

I would do my research, and avoid; They don't offer refunds for slow speeds, so their big "Refund x10 price" is pure bullocks. Their test-trial is not enough to fully evaluate their services, it's 30 minutes. And they are extremely reluctant to give you a refund to the point where they will allow P2P connections on their NON-P2P servers as long as you don't get them DMCA notifications.

Dear Customer,
We can only make refunds if there is a valid reason such as a non working product. We cannot make a refund simply because you change your mind. We have the costs to develop the software, run the network, support our customers and we already paid the payment merchants their % for your account. Sorry but we can't be of further help in this.
Really is the bad press worth $10?

First of all I apologize if my comment got posted 3 times. All I did was hit refresh on this page and everytime I did my comment was reposted. I just wanted to see if someone commented on my comment.

But anyways that is not true that all users get a refund within 48 hours. I just received a refund yesterday which was the 10th. You guys refused to refund my money after I told you I was unhappy with your product. I finally got a email the other day that said you would try one more teamviewer session with me and if you couldn’t fix the issue then you would refund my money. I’m guessing that’s because I called my bank and disputed the charges and now they’re doing an investigation on you. Or because I wrote on every review site about you. And everything I’m writing is true. I tried the trial for a half hour and everything worked fine. But after that had disconnection problems left and right. So don’t call me a liar, you’re the liar.

about VPN4All Jun 2011

We created the trial so that all users could determine if the VPN works for them or not. That is the purpose of the trial. Most VPNs do not provide a trial because they are difficult to administer and there is a lot of abuse. Therefore 30 min or 100mb is the max. If it doesn't work in 30 minutes its not going to work for you and you should not purchase the subscription version. That's the whole purpose of the trial.

For 99.99% of the users, the trial works fine. But if you have tried multiple VPNs and you have TUN/TAP on your computer, vpn4all will not work. It will find that to be a conflict. So be sure to uninstall any other VPNs before you try the VPN4ALL trial and open the trial with admin permission to avoid any problems.

As to any comments posted here, I would hope they are all truthful and straight forward and we will respond to any comments positive or otherwise as we are doing our utmost to provide the best VPN service and software available. We designed and developed the software with customers in mind and have created a new kind of interface that is meant to be convenient and secure. But like with any kind of software, if you have scripts or certain conflicting software, it may prevent the VPN from working. The trial is meant to protect everyone from spending money on a non working product and it should be viewed as that. It helps you determine if it works to your expectations and helps us avoid support problems. And we have 24x7 live support.

CAUTION! WARNING! DO NOT USE VPN! I would be cautious on all these positive reviews. That many people randomly come to this site to vote for a VPN? No, something is not right. I am using the VPN4all and am having so many problems. It takes over 20 minutes to get a connection. If I try another server, I get errors. They only gave me a 30 minute trail period. I caution anyone to not buy a VPN unless you get at least a 7 day trial period. I do not like this product and I used their customer service and they keep telling me to reinstall and reboot. WARNING: Don't use this product unless you get a 7 day trial period!!!!

vpn4alladmin, thanks for joining the discussion.

I want to remind users that one disgruntled customer is no indicator for the quality of a product/service. The next months will maybe bring a clearer picture as hopefully more (true) customers will share their experience with vpn4all.

However, personally, I tend to distrust companies that use aggressive and manipulative online marketing to promote a product (spam, presumably faking customer reviews, etc), and this is my biggest issue with VPN4ALL at the moment.
How can one trust a product offered by a company that obviously tries to deceive and manipulate in order to gain customers. Especially since we are talking about a VPN software that will actually route your entire network traffic over their servers.
