VMLite XP Mode

Free by VMLite Inc. | Link to website

VMLite XP Mode offers similar functions as Microsoft Windows XP Mode, but doesn't require hardware virtualization. It allows you to run Windows XP at the same time from your desktop running on a different host operating system. VMLite XP Mode is based on the open source project VirtualBox. To install VMLite XP Mode, it needs 1) VMLite Workstation and 2) a licensed copy of Windows XP in virtualized image file format. More info »

Virtual Computer in Your Pocket: Have your old PC up and running in your new PC, using VMLite:
The following instructions you can read on Page 10 of ConsumerVirtualization.pdf downloadable from (1)
Have your old PC up and running in your new PC, using VMLite:
• Get an external hard drive that can hold all the data on your old PC.
• Copy a simple VMLite program to the hard drive and connect the hard drive to the old PC.
• Run the copied VMLite program, which will convert your old PC to a file accessible from your new PC.
• Once the conversion is done, connect the hard disk to your new PC, and start running and enjoying your old PC!
A similar but interesting use for VMLite is to use it to create a backup of your Netbook computer, and run it on your desktop PC.
