it IS wine dependant under linux

Negative Comment by XaaLoo about TeamViewer Jan 2012

Just want to clarify that this program IS wine dependant under linux. So if you're looking for a native remote-desktop app, this should not be your choice.

Negative Comment by GeorgeTech about TeamViewer AMMYY Admin Nov 2011

That's what i told about. TV seems a bit unpredictable in terms of detecting commercial or non commercial use.

Ammyy Admin looks much more attractive from this point. You get all the features in free version and can be sure no "commrecial use detected" will appear on your screen accompanied with session abort.

I'm using it all the time for home and work. New v.3 is just astonishing.

Myself and a few others joined together as an informal volunteer group and used TeamViewer as a means of teaching people in 3rd world nations how to use a computer and the internet. The product seemed to be an ideal fit until I was shocked to find the message "Commercial use detected!" plastered across the screen and i'm not allowed to use it for more than 5 minutes. How is giving up my free time to help a poor person learn to use the internet and a PC a commercial venture?

I phoned them and was told that the only option was buying a $700+ education license (per computer!). Sorry Teamviewer, I can't afford to use your product.

Hugely disappointed.

Here you go:

Thanks, TeamViewer.

After the 5 minutes is up it drops the connection and I'm not allowed to reconnect for another few minutes.

Would love to use this to control my Hackintosh from my Macbook, but TeamViewer gives an error (can't connect to server), because the hackintosh isn't a 'real' Mac. Major fail.

Agree with Eugene199

Not everyone's IT budget can justify $1200 or even more expense.
If you're in need of a good zero-config alternative check out Ammyy Admin http://www.ammyy.com

One of my clients paid for the commercial license, and I have to say I've grown quite fond of using TeamViewer. I can't say it suits most of my clients, but in this case it has been a real time saver for IT.
