Version 9 not longer availlable (Pro users)

about TeamViewer Dec 2016

Since the last v.12 update of this week, the version 9 is not longer available on the TV website.
If you are running both versions on your PC (9 & 12), don't update the 12 before doing a copy of the TV9 installation folder.

This note is of course for TV Pro versions. For free use TV12 should be always the best solution.

about TeamViewer and Chrome Remote Desktop, Microsoft Remote Desktop Nov 2016

I was recommended this software by my friend. It is free, good for my business and personal purpose. Don't go for any paid apps before using this. I would suggest using this without any hesitations! Better than Microsoft Remote Desktop or Chrome Remote Desktop.

Ever since the breach to TeamViewer's security, and how long it took them to acknowledge the problem, and how they even handled the problem once they finally did acknowledge it, I've been trying to find an alternative.

I may just bite the bullet and pay LogMeIn for a personal account.
VNC is super insecure as is RDP.
I've used NoMachine in the past on my Linux boxes and it works smoothly once configured - but I've never ran it on my Windows PC's.
The other problem is if I am on the road and my wife tells me there is a problem, remoting in isn't so easy without opening a bunch of ports on your router/firewalls.

Update cycle of 6 months making life time purchase useless.

about TeamViewer Jul 2016

Beware of this product.

After the first ~7 days of using the TeamViewer product, they will cripple the product and do there very best to annoy you into purchasing it. Once you purchase there "life time, one time purchase" everything will work fine for <6 months before they release a new version (every six months for the last 5 years now). After the update when you send your customers the older version that is compatible with your version of team viewer, the first thing your customers will see when launching the product is a notification to update. making their version not comparable with yours.

Its not a life time, one time purchase. its a ~$800 every six month purchase per seat. ($8,000 for 5 years)

Beware of their licencing scam

After a recent auto-update, 1000s of people's computers have been remoted into. Losses of $1000s have been recorded.

See the [reddit thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/4m7ay6/teamviewer_has_been_hacked_they_are_denying/ ) and uninstall immediately until fixed.
