My company is very decentralized and we don't have a centralized IT collaboration system for projects that involve more than one of our silos. I have used basecamp in the past, but the issue I was always run into with any SaaS we have is remembering what their usernames and passwords are. As simple as and a shoulder shrug this issue may seem to be, it has almost becomes very frustrating trying to walk someone through reseting a password on these sites regardless that most ever site has the "I forgot my password link" I just signed up for teambox today and the ability to allow users to link their accounts to linkedin, facebook or twitter as a 3rd party login feature could improve the buy-in to this SaaS project system. That being said, if basecamp had the same 3rd party login, I would probably stay with them, there seems to be something a little less overwhelming with basecamp, I haven't really put my finger on it yet. What I also like about teambox so far too, is that you can have your master milestone (project list) and then have task under that milestone like you have in basecamp, but teambox goes one step further and allows you to not only attached additional docs and notes underneath a task, you can assign and schedule delivery dates to the comment underneath the task.

All these people who foolishly talk about Teambox being a drag because it is open source are so silly. Teambox is both an ONLINE software as a service HOSTED in the cloud as well as a downloadable Open Source offering. This gives you a CHOICE. Unlike, Rule, Timedoctor, proofhub or the other offering this means a HUGE community of developers are constantly making it tool the best our there.

Teambox offers the most adopted UI on the net and the coolest users.

You can also try to compare this tool with other basecamp alternative like in this link http://www.timedoctor.com/blog/2011/02/02/43-project-management-software-alternatives which show 43 different project management software

This tool is good but I have an option in comparison to basecamp is proofhub. It is a centralized tool and it works according to the user’s need means this software can use a designer, architect, developer and freelancers etc. Users should think about this if it can mould according to their need then this contain something new. I must say you should try for this. Trial package is totally free just click http://www.proofhub.com/signup?free .

According to me Proofhub is best project management software. I has many features like collaboration , time tracking, task management, file sharing, to do list, real time chat, milestones etc. Check it out http://www.proofhub.com/

I use Remember The Milk (RTM) as platform-transcending taskmanager, which is best software for me for this purpose. With it one can access from every computer and from every place on-line or with Windows mobile his tasks. One can also feed new duties by mailing of e-mails.
