I used UltraEdit on Windows but on Mac, it is really crappy. Was looking for a replacement and tried every possible text editor until I fell in love with Sublime Text 2 (Beta).

At $60, it is very expensive, almost too expensive but Sublime Text 2 is excellent, so I say it may be worth the steep price.

The license $hit

Positive Comment by Eostyx about Sublime Text Notepad++ Feb 2012

While most will just use it and put up with the "you're using a trial, please buy the license."

You don't charge dirty, poor programmers $60 for a text editor. No matter how good it is, you'll just scare away the peasants to something murdering them inside such as Notepad++. Trust me, the editor is brilliant and is totally worth switching to if all you use if simple stuff. Arguably better than even Textmate, perhaps.

Try it, you might be surprised.

Sublime Text 2 recently began offering a Vi editing mode. The best text editor out there just keeps getting better.
