MEGA is similar to SpiderOak because it claims to encrypt your files locally before upload and not have the keys to decrypt them ("zero-knowledge"). However, since its inception, MEGA has been mired in various controversies and has had security flaws detected (since fixed). SO has enjoyed a solid reputation. Both MEGA and SO can become slow when dealing with large numbers of files (not necessarily large files).

ownCloud is a PARTIAL SpiderOak alternative. Through oC's client you can backup and sync files. Typically, oC is run on your own server. This means only your hard disk limits the storage space, and your files belong to you. But oC doesn't encrypt your files in the "zero-knowledge" way, which SpiderOak does. SO costs money; oC doesn't unless you get a hosted version. Use oC with Cryptomator to maximize privacy/security.

pCloud are a Swiss (strong privacy laws) hosted sync service, similar to Dropbox. They are a partial SpiderOak alternative because they offer the option to have an encrypted folder to which only you have the password, and the contents of which only you can read. That is SpiderOak's whole way of working, so pCloud are a partial alternative. Uploads/Downloads are very fast though. Also Linux-friendly.

Sync.com is a Dropbox-like service, whereas SpiderOak is more for backing up files (though Sync too, but that's less user-friendly). Sync is Canadian, Spideroak is US-based, both offer end-to-end encryption (good for privacy - neither company can read your files). Sync offers no Linux client, but has the better mobile app.
