Remove Empty Directories (RED)

Free by Jonas John | Link to website

RED searches and deletes empty directories recursively below a given start folder and shows the result in a well arranged tree. Further you can create some custom rules for keeping and deleting folders. Empty files in directories can also be ignored. Just try RED to see the other features - no registry keys or system files will be touched. More info »

Useless

Negative Comment by Gurudev1000 about Remove Empty Directories (RED) Dec 2011

Doesn't work. I mean the software starts, but it doesn't find any of the empty folders I was hoping it would.

Just a message to say that RED has been updated on feb. 2011. It is now compatible with Vista & Windows 7 so you won't have to do what is suggested in endolith's message.

RED is the best tool I've found for this, since it handles directories with nothing but junk in them (Thumbs.db, .DS_Store), lets you permanently protect directories from deletion, shows a nice tree view, etc.

I got it working in Windows 7 using the compatibility troubleshooter thing, but it doesn't seem fully compatible. It often crashes, due to an inability to read certain filenames.
