Old and quirky. You have a choice to use Ansi or Unicode for report. You can save the report in plain text or html. Unicode HTML uses old UTF‑16 HTML, which is atypical, and loads jumbled in browsers. Ansi html works ok. Note though, you can save the regshots and report, but you can't reuse the screenshots to make new reports.. not a great method. So you need to let the program run until ready to make the 2nd shot.

What is Regshot?
Regshot is a small, free and open-source registry compare utility. Compare before & after registry shots when making system changes or installing new software. The changes report can be produced in text or HTML format and contains a list of all modifications that have taken place between snapshot1 and snapshot2. In addition, you can also specify folders (with subfolders) to be scanned for changes as well.

Consider MJ Regwatcher instead. It keeps a running log of registry changes. Automatic with no fuss.
It supports only own format of registry copy. If I exported reg file via regedit then I cannot compare it via this tool.
Regshot does not use .REG files for comparison. As the blurb states ... " use Regshot to create Shot#1 and Shot#2" for comparisons
