Streaming internet video with Quicktime totally sucks. I tried watching the iPad 2 keynote on Apple's website via Quicktime today, and the player froze on me at least a dozen times. What, Apple can't just use Flash/HTML5 like normal people?

Quicktime is also a great lightweight video editor if you just want to perform simple tasks like trimming or joining video files. Pro tip: complete your video file in Quicktime and then move it to Adobe Media Encoder for a quick workflow of creating video for Flash.
