Hi,

Windows 10 have a lot of flaws, but a lot of little improvements too.

Windows 10 have integrated a PDF virtual printer. When you print a document select: Microsoft Print to PDF.

Avira flagged C:\%user%\AppData\Local\Temp\nsr3942.tmp\InstallManager.exe as a virus (APPL/Downloader.Gen (Cloud)) during install.

Installs unwanted software

Without mentioning it, the installer for this software installed a toolbar and changed a number of my personal settings in firefox. This software is garbage.

Changes the default search engine used from the location/address bar, see the keyword.URL setting in about:config.

At version 1.5.0, back to bundling with AVG

Negative Comment by hollasch
about PDFCreator Oct 2012

I'm fed up with PDFCreator. Now, at version 1.5.0, they're back to forcing users to install AVG, which will add toolbars to all of your installed browsers, plus additional add-on software. Unlike prior bundlings they tried, this one forces you to accept the AVG license agreement, even if you figure out how not to install AVG.

PDFCreator has crossed the threshold, and is no longer worth the abuse. As history has shown, 1.6.0 may be a different story, but it will most likely be different like bear poop is different from dog poop. I'm moving on to more respectable solutions.

v1.4.3 is bundled with a different toolbar

about PDFCreator and Yahoo! Toolbar, Babylon Aug 2012

I just downloaded version 1.4.3 and noticed it's bundled with the Babylon toolbar. The prompt to install it is pretty obvious and comes after you click 'install' for PDFCreator. It looks like a different toolbar than it was previously bundled with because the screenshots from Venom88 show the Yahoo toolbar.

Older screenshots show Yahoo toolbar

I couldn't manage to overcome MSCOMCTL*.OCX errors. They must do something about it.
Then I start using CutePDF Writer without any problems. Just works...

The toolbar which is mentioned as adware/malware, is no longer a part of the program as of version 1.2.0.

And by the way the PDFarchitect feature is great for editing existing PDF-documents, but it is a bit unstable as now (November 2012)!

I love PDFcreator :)

Is the toolbar really malware? I would think it should be classified as adware. The browser hi-jacking is not nice, but from what I understand it does not have any malicious behavior (trojans, etc) other than displaying ads?

If we classify the toolbar as 'malicious', consequently, we should flag the app with a warning. Otherwise we should change the wording to 'aggressive adware' or 'adware without proper uninstall routines'.

I prefer qvPDF (1) as pdf-printer, because he has more functions than all other pdf-printers:
qvPDF is a PDF creator for Windows, but you can also merge & split pdf-documents.

WARNING: since version 0.9.7, PDFCreator is bundled with a malware toolbar! In order to prevent this from being installed, you need to uncheck it in TWO places in the installer: 1 here http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/2597/un1n.png and 2 here

It's the same in PDFCreator as in Bullzip pdf-printer: In the head line and footing line there should be the URL, date and "page X of N". The font of this information was defective, so that this information is not legible. In spite of some search I found for it no functioning settings. If someone has a solution for this problem, it would be nice to inform here about it with a comment.
