Paint.NET

While probably not sufficiently feature-rich for designer, Paint.net is absolutely suitable for webmasters daily tasks. I have been using it for several years now, and have nothing to complain on.

It's a kind of pity that Paint.net is Windows-only and is not available on Mac.

Great and easy to use Windows only photo editing application. It gives me all the functions I need that MS Paint does not.

Paint.net is great not because of all of it's advanced features but because it is easy to use and produces good results. It reminds me a bit of Photoshop but a much more stripped down version. And it's much cheaper than Photoshop! Takes up less room on the computer as well. I highly recommend it.

Paint.net is easy and simple to use, unlike other image editing programs, which require guides and tutorials (coughPhotoshopcough). If you know how to use MS Paint, you will get the hang of Paint.net in less than half an hour. It's way better than bare-bone MS Paint in nearly every single aspect, too.

If I want to select and to move a text object and change the font size in pictures I have best experience with PhotoScape. Beside many other very useful features you can perfectly select, move and manipulate text objects. The manipulation of text fields including of framing of text fields is a problem for many other free photo-editing software products as Paint.net, Pixlr, Adobe Photoshop Express, GimpShop or IrfanView.
