    • Whereas Paint.NET is a very simple and user friendly program that's easy to use, GIMP is incredibly unforgiving, difficult to learn/use and lacking the welcoming and uncomplicated interface of Paint.NET. Moreover it has functions that just completely stop working for no reason Guest • Dec 2016 Disagree   Agree
    • GIMP is full of features that aren't needed by 99% of people and very complicated. Guest • Jan 2017 Disagree   Agree
    • is a very easy to use program for basic editing of images, while Gimp is a very complicated tool for doing lots of complex stuff with images so kind of very different target groups I would say Guest • May 2017 Disagree   Agree
    • GIMP is really complicated and not a real alternative. It has way more than nedeed for most of the users. Paint.NET is really simple to use and has just enough functionality to be useful for an advanced (but not professional) user. Guest • Jul 2017 Disagree   Agree
    • GIMP is a superb cross-platform (Win, Mac, Linux) alternative to Paint.NET because it's open source and has a huge range of functionality. It is less suited for those situations where you're seeking a very simple image editor, without fuss. But it's still cross-platform, which Paint.NET isn't. So it depends what "alternative" means to you. JohnFastmanJan 2017 Disagree   Agree

    • Actually, Paint.NET is supposed to be a free alternative to Adobe Photoshop. While Paint.NET is very powerful, Adobe Photoshop is the superior when it comes to editing. If you want nice free results, Paint.NET is your best bet. If you want amazing results and the best tools and are not afraid to drop in some money, Adobe Photoshop is a very great choice. PhotoShop is a beautiful program with a lot of options. is a simple "paint" program that allows you to go as you like, but keep it simple at the beginning. MyPaint is like a photoshop lite. Pressure Sensitivity?

Does this app support pressure sensitivity?

Not Fair

It's Not fair that you need a pc to download this you should make AVAIBLE for the people who has macbook air and pro.

In an ideal world, good app developers would recognize that people use Windows, Mac and Linux. Paint.NET shouldn't just be Window-based, but work for Mac and Linux users too. Ideally, it should be open source. If you're a frustrated Mac user, try Krita or MyPaint.

It is a good software but a little out of date. It could not work properly on New Mac. I changed to MyBrushes for Mac now.

Most handy image editor for me!

about Paint.NET · ·

I like the "move selected pixels" and "move selection" feature, I find only Paint.Net has them both.

My friend said using in Windows 7 Professional isn't that good, since it keeps lagging & her wacom bamboo tablet pen pressure doesn't work properly. But I can't be too sure cuz she's telling me this online.

Great program overall. If you want a free image editor, it is this and only this.

about Paint.NET and Microsoft Paint · ·

Great and easy to use Windows only photo editing application. It gives me all the functions I need that MS Paint does not.

Not advanced features but it's easy to use

about Paint.NET and Adobe Photoshop · · is great not because of all of it's advanced features but because it is easy to use and produces good results. It reminds me a bit of Photoshop but a much more stripped down version. And it's much cheaper than Photoshop! Takes up less room on the computer as well. I highly recommend it.

Reply doesn't require guides and tutorials is easy and simple to use, unlike other image editing programs, which require guides and tutorials (coughPhotoshopcough). If you know how to use MS Paint, you will get the hang of in less than half an hour. It's way better than bare-bone MS Paint in nearly every single aspect, too.
