Our newest blog entry shows you how to monitor Cisco IP SLA with our NetCrunch network monitoring system. IP SLA (Internet protocol service level agreement) is a Cisco mechanism to test the network performance in the real time. NetCrunch is able to display information from IP SLA operations and to monitor it. Devices that support IP SLA are automatically recognized by NetCrunch.

The NetCrunch network, server, application, file, log and web monitoring suite can handle 240,000 network monitoring sensors on a single server installation.

It runs on Windows Server and requires only 4GB of RAM and 4 Cores (which can be on a VM with no performance degradation). Network performance data is stored on an embedded NoSQL database that doesn't limit the size or length of time you can keep your data, and has no additional licensing or hardware costs as associated with MSSQL.

If you're looking for enterprise-grade network monitoring at an SMB price point, check out NetCrunch 8.7. It has node-based licensing, with no limit on the number of sensors/elements/counters/etc monitored on each node.

The current lab-tested maximum on a single installation is 240,000 sensors according to the AdRem Software twitter feed, which far outstrips the competition. You can get a 30-day trial complete with tech support at their website.

Version 8.6 of NetCrunch was released at Interop Las Vegas last week. It includes brand new widgets, the ability to rotate views in full screen, and more. You can check out the release notes here. They offer a 30-day demo of the unlimited-node license, even if you've used a previous trial.

If you're not looking for a commercial network monitoring solution, they also offer the freeware NetCrunch Tools, a collection of 11 useful tools like traceroute, ping, SNMP scanner, MAC resolver and more.
