"Allway Sync" in WinXP/Vista is better than "My Phone" for Restoring of a "Windows Mobile" Smartphone
For Backups of and Synchronisation with a complete Windows Mobile device or of a SD-card on a "Windows Mobile" device with keeping up of the folder structure to/with "Windows XP" or Vista Folders I prefer Allway Sync (1,2), but one must install it in Windows on the Desktop PC. You need no version for windows mobile devices itself.
With "My Phone" you cannot select single folders or files for synchronisation or direct restore to the smartphone, only backup "All Documents" and/or "All SD-Cards together", my HTC P6500 has 2 SD-Cards. The Synchronisation result with My Phone often is an error for single files, which cannot be synchronized. But you get no information, what files make the problems. Restoring of single files is possible, but only as a download from the web interface to the desktop PC. If I synchronize with Allway Sync, this allways was error-free and more comfortable.
No other free application than Allway Sync is able to sync directly and reliable a WebDAV-Folder or SD-Memory-Card from a "Windows Mobile" SmartPhone with a Vista PC Folder.
