After years of trying to find a good alternative to iTunes, i finally made the switch to MediaMonkey. This was mainly thanks to the new sleek UI and new features implemented with MM4 (currently still in beta).

MediaMonkey is fast and intuitive (fast enough to be used as a player, not just as a manager), handles pretty much any music format and is also now good for managing videos. It is the most feature rich and compatible music manager I have seen.

Also it is backed by a reputable company, new versions are released at a rapid pace, and the developers frequently visit the forums and respond to bug reports and feature wishes.

Best of the bunch. I used Winamp for years until revolutionised players came out, and then used Foobar2000, iTunes, Songbird, aTunes (2nd best to MM by far!), and even WMP.

Perfect for large collections, incredibly quick even if it's not organised properly like my friends and still better than any other for small or medium collections. Easy to edit tags, quick to learn how to use, great browser like back/forward view on what you were just looking at, quick search, easy to tag, backup and restore databases, monitor folders so you don't have to add the new music programme (once you set it to monitor your root Music folder - which is now available in the free version I see. Better iPod configuration than iTunes! Follow the wiki to get it setup correctly first.

Fantastic following that have produced many wikis on various topics. New scrobbling plugin works flawlessly!

This is one of the four programmes that i've bought in the last 10 years along with Tag&Rename, Oops!Backup and Actual Multiple Monitors.

The only iTunes alternative along with CopyTrans Manager that fully support the iPhone 4 and iPad.

My Windows audio player of choice. This thing does everything you'd want, and it's wrapped up in a very customizable and clean user interface. I wanted a complete music manager and was fed up with iTunes (slow, uncustomizable, lack of features) and MediaMonkey won me over. Songbird's UI, stability, and speed are all inferior to MediaMonkey.

I have tried it several times, but always seem to get back to foobar2000.
