I've been searching for an Evernote replacement in order to keep my notes in my hard drive, not god-knows-where in the cloud and open source (to grant full time support. Lacks of tags, but gives excellent html export.

If open source, simple, desktop based are the criteria, here is the app.

Excellent app. Loads quickly, low memory usage, clean interface. Has both Windows and linux versions which I needed. (And easy to store the backup file in Dropbox)

A very good application. It is not just for short notes. I tried many apps but all of them was either too heavy or too limited for extensive notes. I like that all notes in fact are html pages. And I find its screenshot-snipping tool very useful. A pity detail however... at the moment KeepNote for Windows has no check-spelling tools.

KeepNote is very like to Zim Desktop, they have similar organizing structure and editing capability. But I'll still sticks with Zim as it provides more functionality useful to me.

Not half bad. Has some minor bugs, but works good. Simple to install, easy to use.
