InstallShield Comments

Inno Setup has hidden pitfalls

about InstallShield · ·

As much as I hate InstallShield, I tried Inno Setup on a Windows 2008 Server R2 x64 machine and it was constantly quitting on me with no errors. Launch Inno Setup Compiler, select Example Scripts..., click OK, quit. Try the Wizard, it goes for a few steps, and quits. I checked the Event Viewer and there are some cryptic PCA2 notifications, but no info on why it quit.

Also, support for InnoSetup is hard to find. Unless someone can give me a workaround (I've tried Run as Admin) that keeps Inno Setup Compiler from constantly quitting, I just can't pursue it as an alternative. It looked like it would be really nice.
