If you click the link to go to Google reader it will give you a discontinued page. On that page there is a link to alternativeTo!

Google Reader being shut down

Comment by claesbrandt
about Google Reader and The Old Reader, Feedly Apr 2013

Google Reader has been my favorite RSS reader for years. Unfortunately Google decided to shut it down and we now have to find an alternative. As you see in here there are plenty of them. Many of them can import your Google Reader subscriptions, so do it now before Google Reader is shut down, which happens the 1. of July 2013. Check out the info from Google here: http://googlereader.blogspot.dk/2013/03/powering-down-google-reader.html.

Personally I am using Feedly on my phone and then The Old Reader in my browser. The Old Reader can import your Google Reader subs, and it works mostly in the same way, same keyboard shortcuts etc.

With Google Alerts you can fix individual filters defining on-line news contributions you would like to look in your quite personal "Internet newspaper" with "Google Reader":

With it a dream becomes true: the newspaper which contains only articles which are of interest to you personally.

God I wish this had a way of filtering feeds. If you're interested in something like this to use with Google Reader, check out Yahoo Pipes.
