I'd like to update my previous comment.

Been using GOM Player for a while now, and I have to say that in regard to ease of use, functionality and performance, it simply kicks VLC's ass.

A good alternative to VLC

I'm not sure I agree with it having a "sleek" UI (although it's definitely better than VLC).

I was actually looking for an alternative to VLC, when I found GOM Player. It seems to play about anything, it's really fast, and watching movies with it on a laptop is a joy. Space = Play/pause, Enter = Full screen / windowed, Esc = Minimize.

Sleek UI,and one feature that I really appreciate from this media player is If you run a video file and there is already a file with a similar name in the directory, it will be automatically added to your playlist.
