The Notepad++ for GNU/Linux distros

Positive Comment by BjornR about Geany Notepad++ Mar 2012

Having used Windows operating systems for twelve years, the switch to a GNU/Linux one made me having to miss some known applications. Notepad++ is one of them.

Geany behaves the same way and if i didn't know any better i'd say it's an extended Notepad++. It's worth checking out the extra's such as the extended snippets file at http://www.geany.org/Download/Extras

I love this application!

Just an observation: Geany's text editing component is Scintilla, which is also the component for SCite.

I wanted to write in python and on Ubuntu there is not really any program to specifically edit python code. but this program allows me to edit the python code with all the line numbering and such that I want in a code language editor.
