https://blog.evernote.com/blog/2016/06/28/changes-to-evernotes-pricing-plans/

Importantly for free/basic users: "Beginning today, the prices for our Plus and Premium tiers will change for new subscriptions, and access from Evernote Basic accounts will be limited to two devices."

Evernote have also announced higher prices for paid plans.

Evernote Basic
Free

The easiest way to get started with Evernote, Basic has been and will remain free of charge. Evernote Basic supports web clipping and note sharing, so you can capture memories, ideas, and inspiration and save them forever.

On Basic, you can access notes on up to two devices, such as a computer and phone, two computers, or a phone and a tablet, as well as on the web, so you can continue to take your notes with you throughout your day. Passcode lock on the mobile app, formerly a paid feature, is now available on Basic as well.

Evernote Plus
$3.99/month or $34.99/year (save 27%)

To stay in sync across all your devices, consider Evernote Plus. You’ll also enjoy the ability to take notebooks offline on a mobile device, so your notes will be with you wherever you go, even when there’s no Internet connection. You can forward emails into Evernote and keep them alongside related notes, complete with attachments, and 1 GB of upload space each month means you can keep all your projects together.

Evernote Premium
$7.99/month or $69.99/year (save 27%)

Get the full power of Evernote with Evernote Premium, a set of tools designed to help you go paperless and take ideas into action across all your devices. Find text buried inside Office docs. Annotate PDFs. Discover connections between notes, turn business cards into phone contacts, or present your work with one click. Premium includes 10 GB of monthly upload space, and you have all the benefits of Plus and Basic, too.

about Evernote and Microsoft OneNote Dec 2015

I have tried both Evernote and OneNote, both of which are free now, over the years and I still find OneNote to be much easier to use, collect, share, find information, etc.

Using OneNote with Onetastic fills in some of the gaps that were lacking in OneNote.

I am looking for an alternative to Evernote that supports Markdown (or even better MultiMarkdown)

Comment by behrangsa
about Evernote and Day One Nov 2015

There's DayOne, but it misses some features that I need:

Also even better would be to allow the user choose what format (Markdown, RTF, etc.) each one of its posts should be in.

  1. A web-based interface apart from native apps
  2. Cross-platform (available on OS X and Windows and +1 if it is also available for Linux as well as iOS and Android)
  3. Beautiful UI (there are some cross-platform apps that are way too ugly)
  4. Syntax highlighting code
  5. Folders, tagging, uploading images, etc.

I think that's basically it.

Evernote's making "mail to" functionality premium, so I'm looking at alternatives

I like a lot of things about Evernotes functionality, but I got an email today saying that the ability to email something into a notebook is going to be premium functionality, and I'm just not willing to spend $50 a year for that, so looking for alternatives.

Missing some simple things

Comment by itimjim
about Evernote Jan 2012

Every time I come back to Evernote, with its promise of cross platform, I leave disappointed.

I really wan't to move away from Parallels and OneNote, but Evernote just isn't making it very easy. I'm not asking for 100% functionality as OneNote is a bigger package, but C'mon!... All I want to do is add a column to a table, or resize it. Seriously?!

If I want to collaborate, I have to pay for a premium account. Fair enough, that's acceptable. But wait! Everyone I collaborate with has to have a premium account also...oh! Well that's not going to happen. Let me pay, let me collaborate.

OneNote does this for free via SkyDrive by the way. And also has a Web App for free, and now has iPad/iPhone support. I can't believe Microsoft....MICROSOFT! have innovated well above and beyond the tech start up darling that is Evernote. What is the world coming to.

I'll keep coming back though. I do really want to love Evernote.
