If you're looking for a Notepad alternative, but don't need a coding editor, this software is a very good choice. As for me, I only need a lightweight but powerful Notepad replacement. And EditPad Lite is just perfect for this. It supports a very good and intuitive Search & Replace function, can convert between character sets (e.g. Western ISO -> UTF-8, etc.) and has a very neat interface with tabs supports, that makes it very easy to use. For fast access, it can also be put in the tray, if needed.

I don't think it is a good idea to suggest Notepad-like applications as alternatives to Web/CSS editors, unless they offer specific functions tailored to Web/CSS tasks.

I don't think people want to see Notepad, or the like, suggested as an alternative for every application that opens an ASCII file, even if it can. The description says: "general-purpose text editor".

the icon needs to be trimmed down, so that only the green notepad appears
