Address Book provides a flexible and convenient way to store contact information for family, friends, and colleagues online. Because Address Book is integrated with Mail, iChat, and other applications, you can enter contact information once and have instant access to it from multiple applications.
You can create accounts to access contact information in directories hosted on network servers, such as Microsoft Exchange 2007 Global Address Lists (GALs) and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) servers. Information you enter when setting up your Address Book accounts can be used to set up similar accounts in Mail and iCal, so you can also access email messages and share calendars hosted on the servers. You enter contact information in Address Book cards and then customize the cards to include multiple address, telephone, and email fields. You can import existing contact information from other applications in a variety of formats. You can merge cards and create groups of contacts, including Smart Groups that update themselves when a member’s contact information changes. You can print contact lists, mailing labels, envelopes, and pocket address books to have on hand when a computer isn’t available.
With a MobileMe subscription, you can share your address book online with your contacts and sync the information across computers and devices, and wirelessly with your iPhone.
You can do a number of other tasks using Address Book. For example, you can map your contacts’ addresses or track birthdays. More Info »
