Hi. I've uploaded the original 32x32 icon for Dyndns Icon with transparency. Here you have it :) http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/9972/dyndnsicon.png |

Free accounts and dynamic domain names are effectively no longer given out. There is also no super-cheap pay option ($1-$5 / yr). They want something like $20-$30 / yr. They will likely make more money this way - so yay for them and im glad they finally figured this out. For us, it sucks. Look into alternatives....though nowadays a lot of hardware supports dyndns only :-/ |

No more free DDNS, you have to sign up for a Pro trial and give them your CC details, this absolutely sucks. Why a Pro trial? Why not lite? I use the free service a lot for customers when i set up remote view for their CCTV DVR systems. I dont know what to do now as most of the routers only support DYNDNS. I cant expect customers to sign up for a Pro account for 1 host name. Madness! |

Hi Fuzzballs As far as I see DYNDNS still supports 1 FREE DNS per account. http://www.dyndns.com/services/upgrades/freevspro.html I have 1 PRO account and 2 FREE accounts working very well. If you have problems with DYNDNS , you could try http://www.no-ip.com ? I've seen many routers that support both. |

According to their page at http://dyn.com/dns/dyndns-pro-free-trial : "Try a free trial of DynDNS Pro. You may keep one hostname free of charge for trying Pro. If you decide not to continue with Pro, just cancel your Pro trial within the first 30 days and you will not be charged. You may keep one hostname free of charge for trying the Pro Trial." The downside is you have to provide credit card information, then remember to cancel the pro service within 30 days. Wonder how many people get stuck because they try it out and forget about it till it shows up on their credit card... :p Still, if you sign up you can probably cancel pretty quickly and then just login once a month to "refresh" the free hostname. At least No-IP only expires every 3 months, and they actually email you to remind you to sign in. Not sure if DynDNS does... |
